I am so sorry. I could feel your pain. Everyone must make up their own mind to follow God. I have 4 children. One has never really been faithful one has fallen, one I am not sure because she has cut me out of her life and one is very strong spiritually. Divorce and a broken me with weak faith. I did my best but my faith in God was not where it should have been and I let them down.

Making this comment halfway through, but what about in the context of eldership, when Paul writes about faithful children, does he include adult children that now have their own families or only children in the elder in question's household? Do unfaithful, adult children, disqualify an elder?

I have two boys I raised them in church and they both graduated from school and wanted to be on them streets I feel like they needed there father to but they didn't even love themselves, so yes I feel like I should have done better to but I just still trust in God I have been on the streets from fifteen years up to thirty something years old ye it's hurt but I just pray to God to send my kids back home to you to church if it's his will

"What number well the saved people" I'm sure glad you brought up SAVED PEOPLE. I've searched and searched the NT over and over and over from Matthew to Revelation and I just cannot find anywhere where saved people are referred to as THE BAPTIZED. That's mighty strange don't you think because BELIEVERS and UNBELIEVERS are all children of the devil and damned to hell until baptism. So I'm trying to figure out why all the inspired writers of the NT failed to understand this. They consistently (I mean a lot) referred to saved people as believers and unsaved as unbelievers. Why on earth would they do that when according to the CoC there is absolutely no difference in them. I'm sure there's a good answer for that, like they might have momentarily went uninspired at those exact times. You can't use SYNECDOCHE in this situation because according to you baptism is the final step and without it the rest of the steps are useless, what a dilemma.

so, my mother never divorced my dad, unscriptual , he was a raging drunk until he died, he abused us as children, came to church drunk, treated my mom like trash, and never changed , the years of what I had to witness was horrible, I understand she couldn't remarry, but because they were still married he would move out, come back regularly, and , made her support us, and him financially, I do believe she should have been scriptural to divorce him to save us from that life we were forced to endure, please clarify the law on this

Thank you Brethren for a deep & much needed topic. I didn’t grow up in a Christian home, we were sent to “church”. Most times without our parents. I became a Christian after being encouraged by my daughter at a young age, who was going with her grandmother (my mother in law) I feel the same as you all, wondering what we did wrong. She was faithful until she went off to college. Its been years & I’m still praying everyday, that she returns home to God & won’t ever give up. Because with God all things are possible!!!!! I think she’s on her way back. Thats my greatest fear, for something to happen before she gets back 😢

By wayward children, you are not referring to children who believe the Gospel but no longer attend the Church of Christ denomination, right?

If any man be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly (Titus 1:6). This is a qualification of elders. Would we therefore not say that we are partly to blame when our children have unruly behaviors according to this verse which disqualifies a man to serve as an elder?

By “unfaithful children” , you’re including children who still believe that Jesus is the resurrected, sinless Son of God, that He was born of a virgin, lived a perfect sinless life, died for us.. they believe the Bible is the perfect, inerrant, inspired word of God.. they aren’t living a life of sin.. they just don’t attend a coc that is the same level of conservative or more so than that of their parents

Our children have free will and I think many go astray when they fall under the influence of ungodly people at school. That's why it's critical for young people to choose their friends wisely and not associate with worldly people.

Know this was a hard subject to talk about as it affected Don and BJ personally. I never had children, but i have two siblings i hope can come to the truth. Other siblings, nieces and nephews who have more interest in money than eternity. I pray God will help me guide my younger brother and sister to Him.

It's the baptism of the holy spirit that saves you, it gives you the new nature, a new heart, in the righteousness of Christ in you. Acts 1:5. So when you just say baptism how do we know if it's John's baptism being spoken about, are the baptism that Jesus promised the baptism of the Holy Ghost. How do you determine which one the scripture is talking about? I can show you a dozen verses where Jesus promises that if you believe in the only begotten Son you are saved. Not one time did he mention water Baptistism as necessary

What baptism saves you? John's baptism, are the baptism of the Holy Ghost the baptism Jesus promised.

I have a problem with the way Acts 2:38 is taught. Jesus said repeatedly in the book of John, if you believe in the only begotten Son you shall not perish but have eternal life. +There is no mention of water baptism, I haven't took the total count but I think over 20 times Jesus said if you believe in him you shall be saved. Most of the time it's in red letters, I view that as a promise!

Acts ,2;38, how do we know there were water baptized ? I see no mention of water. In Acts 1:5, Jesus said he will baptize what the Holy Ghost.
